Even if you've never been to New York, you probably know a lot about the city - from movies, series, books and artwork. Over the centuries, a colorful picture has emerged from all these components - and we are happy to contribute a few brushstrokes to it: For the New York department store institution Bergdorf Goodman, we have developed the new scent "5th/58th" of our natural soap, limited to 1200 bottles, available exclusively at Soeder and Bergdorf & Goodman are sold.
The department store on the corner of Fifth Avenue and 58th Street has an aura that extends far beyond New York: its roots go back to 1899, when Herman Bergdorf, an emigrant from Alsace, opened his first tailor store in Union Square. Two years later, he hired a certain Edwin Goodman as an apprentice. He soon took over - and ensured rapid growth: in 1928, he opened the art nouveau department store that we still know today from movie classics like "That Touch of Mink" or series like "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel," but above all as one of the first shopping addresses in the Big Apple.
But which scent suits such a legendary place? Our experts didn't have to go far to find out. A block away from Bergdorf Goodman is Central Park, the city's green lung. A piece of New York that has an atmosphere all its own - and a scent that we've now packed into a bottle. In the scent, which is as complex as it is refreshing, you'll find conifers like cedar and pine as well as petitgrain. Florals flirt with citrus notes, and even a hint of lavender plays in. In short: "5th/58th" takes you on a walk in Central Park.
